In April we had a pleasant visit of an american man, he shared with some students and teachers his experience in Colombia and talk about his country.

What is happening with us?
It is not difficult to realize; that nowadays people take everything for granted. There is no need to discover, to create and reach personal goals, to seek for something new and what is more (and cruel), there is not need to THINK. This lack of improvement has direct impact in the way people perceive the world and “reality” because; as reflection and inquiry are taken as boring and difficult tasks, opinion and people’s voices loose their significance and are fit into a t.v commercial or into a paragraph of a magazine. (People’s voices have lost their biblical reference).
Answers are lost because questions disappeared a long time ago, we must know how to use a cell-phone but not how to read, we must know the main characters of a soup opera because of the significance they have for the chat we have with our parents or with our closest friends, we fell in love with clothes not with poems, we like shapes but not content, we do not need words, we prefer silence because it avoids engagement, “the less you speak, the more I enjoy”, we are used to get drunk every single weekend because this is how we learn to enjoy life, we learn through experience (how many girls or boys have you kissed ) it is said, but experience needs control. We go through the life as a feather, hoping to be pushed over and over again because we have lost willpower, the world is finished when our love relationship is broken and we choose the “easy path” as we are used to, we do not know how to act, we depend on what someone else tells us to do and when rejection is required, we can not support our ideas with strong arguments because we do not how to do that.
Taken into account all these events we may say that this generation is going anywhere, that this is the way it is and nothing can be done, but why can not we change, but change for real, from the heart, take the first step and ask to ourselves: What am I doing with my life?, What I want to do for me?, How can I help myself and another one?. These can be seen as senseless questions but as simple as they are, can be the starting point for a personal improvement which is going to help us a lot when facing situations that challenge our bodies, our feelings and our minds in the most powerful way we would ever imagined, and if we are not well-prepared for handling with them we are not going to be able to take advantage of what those situations provide. We have to bear in mind that some things are bad but that can be worst and that good things can be better if we encourage ourselves to do so.
Despite the fact that this reflection tends to be at first sight a total rejection to the way our environment has become, it has to be taken as a warning, it has to be reflected upon in order to provide solutions, concerns and reactions because they can be a good beginning
